Senegal - Advocate to the State

For STEP-Senegal, the priority is to include its actions within the framework of Social Protection National Strategy (SNPS) and to advocate to the State and to different actors in order to build a favourable environment for the setting up of social protection schemes enabled to cover an important mass of population.

This environment consists mainly of:

• A global contractual approach with medical services supply in which these systems can be included by defining systems and simplifying tasks for service providers. This harmonisation should not be an obstacle for social protection schemes to define their own health insurance regimes.
• Setting up of a shared mechanism of information flow management. In this context, there is a proposal to set up a shared management platform, which will allow efficient management simplifying procedures for the insured and service providers, and the operating costs will be shared among many social protection schemes.
