Concertation

The ILO STEP program of the Social Security Department is engaged in supporting the set up of innovative forms of networking and partnership among stakeholders of social protection: governments, workers and employers organizations, social security institutions, civil society, international organizations, public and private sectors and social movements.

In West Africa, the network called "la Concertation", created in 1999, covers 11 countries. It gathers more than 150 organizations coming from formal and informal settings closely linked to the African mutual benefit movement. It is supported by international partners: ILO/STEP, USAID/PHR+, GTZ, AIM, ANMC, WSM, RAMUS, UNMS, MFP and AWARE.

In Asia, the network, called the "Asian Micro-Insurance Network (AMIN) was created in 2003. It covers 8 countries and gathers 22 among the largest civil society organizations running micro-insurance schemes in the region.

At the international level, the Global Alliance was created in 2005. It brings together a number of large organizations and networks active in the extension of social protection: ILO, ISSA, AIM, ACI, ICMIF, IHCO and WIEGO.
