IALI's 2007 Conference, From Compliance to High Performance, is expected to be the best-attended ever. This is our opportunity to promote the value of effective labour inspection and ensure that information is shared to benefit us all. We will look at policies, strategies and practices that improve the working environment, reduce accidents, illness and lost working time, and incorporate occupational health and safety within management systems. Labour inspectors are the main government authority with direct access to the workplace, and have the statutory power to enforce legislation and improve working conditions.
