The 5th Edition of the Encyclopaedia is a multinational effort, true to its heritage as a flagship publication of the International Labour Organization. Although its main financing will continue to come from its parent organization, outside sponsoring by OSH organizations from around the world is encouraged, and we take this opportunity to thank sponsors who have already donated work, staff time and funding for the Encyclopaedia:
IOSH
The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) in Great Britain has generously supported the 5th edition of the Encyclopaedia by donating funds for the recruitment of local experts
and young professionals in nations not represented in previous editions of the Encyclopaedia.
IOSH has over 35,000 members worldwide, including 13,000 Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners. The Institution was founded in 1945 and is an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets professional standards, supports and develops members and provides authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety issues. IOSH is formally recognised by the ILO as an international non-governmental organization.
Digital-2000
Digital-2000 began in 1985 as Don
Brown Productions and over the years has produced over 2,000 video training programmes concerning safety and health for a wide variety of industries. Its trademark has always been to produce training videos that are affordable to small and larger sized businesses.
Digital-2000 donated the costs of preparation and production of
"Why the World Needs a Fifth Edition" - promotional video, for use by SAFEWORK.
Digital-2000 also donated the costs of labour and staffing by three people for three days at the American Society of Safety Engineers annual conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June 2008.
