International code of practice giving advice on matters of mine ventilation (plans, supervision of ventilation systems and equipment, fans below ground, ventilation requirements in view of gas emission, ventilation of stable holes, etc.), firedamp emission, detection of mine gas, sources of ignition (use of light-alloy equipment, shotfiring, electrical apparatus, etc.), and coal dust (control by application of water, stone-dust or water barriers, stonedusting, use of hygroscopic salts, etc.). A final chapter is devoted to human factors in the prevention of explosions.
