CISDOC on the Web

The CISDOC database is a guide to over 62,000 publications (print, electronic and audiovisual) on all aspects of occupational safety and health. For every publication, CIS has tabulated titles, sources, authors, concise abstracts of the contents and systematic keywords ("indexing descriptors") taken from the CIS Thesaurus. The database is fully bilingual English/French; information in Spanish has already been included for about 6,000 publications, and much more is coming. After 30 years of limited accessibility, CISDOC is now being opened to everyone on the World Wide Web.

Getting started

GO!

Simply type words into the "Query definition" box and click Search. The words should be ones you expect to find in the documents you want.

You can search for expressions consisting of more than one word. In that case enclose the words in double quotes (for example, "portable ladders").

It is not useful to search for single words like "occupational", "work", "safety", "health", etc. because they are present in most of the citations in the database.

The results of your query can be displayed by clicking Display. Results will be returned in order of the publication date: more recent publications are closer to the top of the list.

As you get used of the interface you can explore more and more features of it. Certain functions are available only for registered users, but registration is free, see Personalization.

If you want to get out the most from your searches, a complete set of information files is available here or - while using the interface - as help screens by clicking the Help button in your active window.
