TYPES OF
HAZARD /
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS      PREVENTION      FIRST AID / FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible but enhances combustion of other substances. NO contact with water, combustibles and reducing agents. NO water. Dry powder.
EXPLOSION Risk of fire and explosion on contact with combustible substances.   In case of fire: cool drums, etc., by spraying with water but avoid contact of the substance with water.

EXPOSURE   PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT! IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
Inhalation Burning sensation. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. Local exhaust or breathing protection. Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
Skin Redness. Serious skin burns. Pain. Protective gloves. Protective clothing. First rinse with plenty of water, then remove contaminated clothes and rinse again. Refer for medical attention.
Eyes Redness. Pain. Blurred vision. Severe deep burns. Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion Sore throat. Abdominal pain. Nausea. Shock or collapse. Burning sensation. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL PACKAGING & LABELLING

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance
YELLOW TO WHITE POWDER

Chemical dangers
Reacts with water causing fire hazard. Reacts with organic compounds and powdered metals causing explosion hazard. The substance is a strong oxidant and reacts violently with combustible and reducing materials.

Occupational exposure limits
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

Inhalation risk
A harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly when dispersed.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is very corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Corrosive on ingestion. Inhalation of may cause lung oedema (see Notes).

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Melting point (decomposes): 460°C
Density: 2.8 g/cm³
Solubility in water: reaction
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms.

NOTES
Rinse contaminated clothes (fire hazard) with plenty of water.
The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation is therefore essential.
