TYPES OF
HAZARD /
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS      PREVENTION      FIRST AID / FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible.   In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE   PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!
Inhalation Cough. Sore throat. Avoid inhalation of fine dust and mist. Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Skin Dry skin. Redness. Protective gloves. First rinse with plenty of water, then remove contaminated clothes and rinse again.
Eyes   Safety goggles. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion   Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles). Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment.

Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STORAGE
Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs. Dry. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance
VERY HYGROSCOPIC SOLID IN VARIOUS FORMS

Chemical dangers
The substance is a strong reducing agent and reacts with oxidants. The substance may reduce the oxygen content of air in confined spaces. Reacts with water forming flammable/explosive gas (hydrogen - see ICSC0001).

Occupational exposure limits
TLV not established.
MAK not established.

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance irritates the skin and the respiratory tract.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Boiling point: 1300°C
Melting point: 824°C
Density: 2.8 g/cm³
Solubility in water: very good
It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment because it persists in the environment.

NOTES
Health effects of exposure to the substance have not been investigated adequately.
