TYPES OF
HAZARD /
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS      PREVENTION      FIRST AID / FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible. If powder: NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking. In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air. Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.

EXPOSURE   PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!
Inhalation Cough. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. Local exhaust or breathing protection. Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
Skin   Protective gloves. Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
Eyes Redness. Pain. Safety spectacles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion Nausea. Vomiting. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating. Rinse mouth.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL PACKAGING & LABELLING
Remove all ignition sources, if powder. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles.)

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STORAGE
Separated from food and feedstuffs, strong oxidants, strong acids, and other
incompatible materials. See Chemical Dangers. Well closed.

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance
SILVER-WHITE METAL OR BLACK POWDER.

Physical dangers
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

Chemical dangers
Reacts with strong acids, strong oxidants and sulfur
causing fire and explosion hazard.

Occupational exposure limits
TLV: 0.1 mg/m³ (ACGIH 2000).

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is irritating to the eyes and the respiratory tract.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the kidneys, resulting in kidney impairment.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Boiling point: 2000°C
Melting point: 156.6°C
Density: 7.3 g/cm³
Solubility in water: none

NOTES
Environmental effects from the substance have not been investigated. Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken.
