TYPES OF
HAZARD /
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS      PREVENTION      FIRST AID / FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. NO open flames. Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE   PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT!
Inhalation   Local exhaust. Fresh air, rest.
Skin   Protective gloves. Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
Eyes   Safety spectacles. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion   Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Rinse mouth.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. T Symbol

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance
COLOURLESS CRYSTALS, WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

Chemical dangers
The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic fumes (nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides).

Occupational exposure limits
TLV not established.

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on dust forming.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the liver, resulting in tissue lesions. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Melting point: 113-116°C
Solubility in water: good
Flash point: see Notes
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: -0.46/-0.36

NOTES
The substance is combustible but no flash point is available in literature.
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is suggested.
Card has been partly updated in October 2005. See section EU classification.
