TYPES OF
HAZARD /
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS      PREVENTION         FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. NO open flames. Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air. Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).

EXPOSURE   AVOID ALL CONTACT!
Inhalation   Local exhaust or breathing protection. Fresh air, rest.
Skin   Protective clothing. Protective gloves. Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
Eyes Redness. Pain. Safety goggles. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion   Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating. Refer for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. (Extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles.) Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Xn Symbol

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STORAGE
  Separated from oxidants.

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance
WHITE TO GREY SOLID IN VARIOUS FORMS

Physical dangers
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air. If dry, it can be charged electrostatically by swirling, pneumatic transport, pouring, etc.

Chemical dangers
Reacts with oxidants. The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes.

Occupational exposure limits
TLV: A4; (ACGIH 2003).
MAK: Carcinogen category: 3B; (DFG 2002).

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

Inhalation risk
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is mildly irritating to the eyes.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Boiling point: 395.5°C
Melting point: 108°C
Density: 1.2 g/cm³
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 25°C: none
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 4.38
Bioaccumulation of this chemical may occur in fish.

NOTES
Commercial Phenyl-beta-naphthylamine may contain beta-Naphthylamine as an impurity. Phenyl-beta-naphthylamine is also metabolised in the body to beta-Naphthylamine which is a bladder carcinogen. See ICSC 0610 2-Naphthylamine.
Do NOT take working clothes home.
