| TYPES OF HAZARD / EXPOSURE |
ACUTE HAZARDS / SYMPTOMS | PREVENTION | FIRST AID / FIRE FIGHTING |
| FIRE | Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. | In case of fire in the surroundings: use appropriate extinguishing media. | |
| EXPLOSION | |||
| EXPOSURE | PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT! | IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR! | |
| Inhalation | Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes). | Local exhaust or breathing protection. | Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Refer for medical attention. |
| Skin | Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. | ||
| Eyes | Redness. Pain. | Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder. | First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor. |
| Ingestion | Abdominal cramps. Diarrhoea. Nausea. Vomiting. | Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating. | Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention. |
| SPILLAGE DISPOSAL | PACKAGING & LABELLING | Personal protection: P3 filter respirator for toxic particles. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment Vacuum spilled material with special equipment or sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. | T+ Symbol N Symbol R: 45-26-48/23/25-62-63-68-50/53 S: 53-45-60-61 Note: E UN Hazard Class: 6.1 UN Pack Group: III |
Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs. Severe marine pollutant. |
| EMERGENCY RESPONSE | SAFE STORAGE | Transport Emergency Card: TEC (R)-61GT5-III | Separated from food and feedstuffs. Store in an area without drain or sewer access. |
| IMPORTANT DATA | Physical State; Appearance ODOURLESS BROWN CRYSTALS OR AMORPHOUS POWDER. Chemical dangers Occupational exposure limits |
Routes of exposure The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion Inhalation risk Effects of short-term exposure Effects of long-term or repeated exposure |
| PHYSICAL PROPERTIES | ENVIRONMENTAL DATA | Sublimation point: (crystals) 1559°C Melting point (decomposes): (amorphous) 900-1000°C Density: 6.95 (amorphous); 8.15 (crystals) g/cm³ Solubility in water: none |
Bioaccumulation of this chemical may occur in plants, in seafood. It is strongly advised that this substance does not enter the environment. |
| NOTES | Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is suggested. The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation is therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate inhalation therapy by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. Do NOT take working clothes home. |
