The Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) has published an analysis of strategies in domestic waste collection in Quebec, Canada.
The work of waste collectors is demanding and involves daily handling of several tonnes of waste (between 2.8 and 3.4 tonnes per hour) and trips over long distances (between 12 and 15 km per work shift). This study aims to identify handling strategies and adaptation of a group of workers in order to improve existing training programmes in handling domestic waste.
