The UN, Google and Cisco combine their power in the battle against global poverty

The United Nations, Google Inc. and Cisco Systems, Inc. combined their power and launched a new Web site that will provide data of global efforts to fight poverty and meet UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Access the UN press release for the full story.

MDG Monitor is a web application that tracks real-time progress toward the UN Goals in a number of categories in nearly every country in the world. It is designed as a tool for policymakers, development practitioners, journalists, students and the general public to track progress through interactive maps and country-specific profiles and, learn about countries' challenges and achievements and get the latest news.

Visit the Goals Pages to learn about each of the 8 MDGs.

The ILO supports the UN efforts for reducing poverty and creating a better and more secure world by the year 2015 through its goal on Decent Work for all. Some of ILO's work touches several of the UN Goals, for example, ILO's work on supporting youth employment, on limiting the spread and effects of HIV/AIDS or on promoting safe and healthty working conditions and environments.

The information folder on Decent Work and the MDGs gives easy access to information on how decent and productive employment, social protection, rights at work and dialogue contribute to the MDGs.
