This year, the European Week of Safety and Health at Work will be held from 22 to 26 October 2007 and will focus on "Musculoskeletal Disorders". The week is an integral part of the European campaign Lighten the Load - A European Campaign on Musculoskeletal Disorders run by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work.

The European Week of Safety and Health at Work has become one of Europe’s largest annual awareness raising campaigns for a healthier, safer and more productive workplace. Various initiatives are taken in EU member states at the national and enterprise levels to celebrate this event.

One of the principal activities to support the European campaign is the European Good Practice Awards scheme that is organised specifically to identify examples of good practice related to musculoskeletal disorders. The awards aim to demonstrate, by example, the benefits of following good safety and health practices. The selected entreprises and organisations will be recognised for their role in improving working conditions in Europe. The winners will be revealed at the campaign’s closing event on March 2008 in Bilbao.
