The World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is a triennal event jointly organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and a occupational safety and health national institution, which this year is the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA). For the first time in the history of the World Congress, a safety and health Summit will be held just before the Congress. The purpose of the Summit is to attract public and media attention to occupational safety and health issues, more particularly to the human and economic cost of occupational accidents and diseases. Participants, including ministers responsible for occupational safety and health, representatives from employers' and workers' organizations, occupational safety and health specialists, social security experts, industry leaders from around the world, will share opinions on safety and health at work as a basic human right and a means to economic growth and development. The Summit will conclude with a Declaration on Safety and Health at Work, which will serve for future direction of occupational safety and health.
