Prevent is just ten years old, but can look back over 55 years of experience in the field of prevention and wellbeing at work in Belgium. Founded in 1952, the Foundation of National Association for the Prevention of Occupational Accidents (NVVA/ANPAT) became Prevent in 1997.

This knowledge Institute for occupational safety and health is active covering the whole area of the relationship between man and work at a regional, national and international level. Prevent is part of the international network of 140 institutions with whom CIS shares its work in processing and disseminating occupational safety and health information.

Anniversary celebrations will be held on 30 November 2007 at Bozar (Paleis voor Schone Kunsten) in Brussels. Representatives of partners' institutions of Prevent will take part to this celebration, including CIS through a video message recorded by Ms Annick Virot, CIS Centres Network Coordinator.
