Grand opening of the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation, Canada

Realizing a vision eight years in the making, the newly constructed Centre for Health & Safety Innovation (CHSI) is a central meeting place for heath and safety partners to exchange knowledge, learning, and innovation in Canada. CHSI is home to:

  • IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association), CIS Collaborating Centre for Canada
  • E&USA (Electrical & Utilities Safety Association)
  • OSSA (Ontario Service Safety Alliance), and
  • THSAO (Transportation Health and Safety Association of Ontario)

These founding partners are making the Centre a focal point for innovation and applied learning in the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses.

The Grand Opening ceremonies, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on 20 September 2006, will include remarks from government dignitaries, special presentations regarding the building of CHSI and its historical significance to the international occupational health and safety community, as well as a ceremonial planting featuring the four founding organizations and their fellow system partners. Mr. Gerd Albracht, labour inspection expert from SafeWork, will represent the ILO.
