The Governing Body of the International Labour Office at its 293rd Session (June 2005) decided to hold a Tripartite Meeting to examine the impact of global food chains on employment. The Meeting will be held at the International Labour Office, Geneva, from 24 to 27 September 2007.
The Meeting will emphasize the need to strengthen social dialogue among governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations in order to achieve better policy coherence in the sector. It will examine the impact of global food chains on employment, using an issues paper prepared by the Office as a basis for its discussions and adopt conclusions which include proposals for action by governments, by employers’ and workers’ organizations and by the ILO. The Meeting may also adopt resolutions.
