The staff members of the CIS Collaborating Centre in Bangladesh, the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Foundation (OSHE), have donated one day's salary to the government's Relief and Welfare Fund for people affected by the severe floods in the country. In a letter to the Chief Advisor of the government, the Executive Director of OSHE, Mr. A.R. Chowdhury Repon, said that it was time for collective action and that workers' organisations and institutions in country would do their best to support the flood victims and flood affected workers. OSHE also urged that immediate rehabilitation programmes should be undertaken to help the millions of hand-loom workers in different parts of the county, who needed government support to be able to restart their employment.
