Conducted by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, European Week aims to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) across Europe by sensitizing representatives from governments and employers' and workers' organizations in each of the European Union's Member States and candidate countries to the fact that risk assessment is essential for the effective management of occupational safety and health.
European Week 2008 is taking place 20-24 October and its theme is "Healthy Workplaces"; it is part of the Healthy Workplaces Campaign on risk assessment and promotion of occupational safety and health in Europe, which will last two years - 2008-2009 - and which will receive support from the EU and European social partners.
Various events will be held in each Member State, under the authority of national OSH institutions. Good practice prizes will be awarded to companies who contributed significantly to the prevention of risks in the workplace. The participants, organizations and individuals can fulfill their commitment by joining the campaign as a sponsor or partner. See how to become an official Campaign partner.
