New features for CISDOC bibliographic database

The International Occupational Safety and Health Information Center (CIS) has created a new interface to its CISDOC bibliographic database on occupational safety and health.

By clicking on www.ilo.org/dyn/cisdoc, you can access the results of 30 years of screening the occupational safety and health literature. This comprises interesting and useful books, articles and audiovisual materials that can be used to fight against workplace accidents and diseases. Made available to the world for free on the ILO Web site in September 2004, CISDOC now contains new features to facilitate searching through its 65,000 documents references.

In addition to a new look, the CISDOC database is more user-friendly and contains new searching features. The interface allows the novice user to perform simple queries and refer to predefined formats for display and printing. Syntax analysis has been refined to ensure that retrieved information is most relevant while running complex queries using Boolean operators, truncation, field-search-mode, etc. The extended user support (help files and messages) provides practical information and answers to questions.

The new interface of the database shall better serve the needs of CISDOC users and provide them with meaningful assistance in their work.
