On 9th September 2009, Bahrain ratified the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (No.155), which entered into force on 11 August 1983. It is the 9th ILO Convention ratified by Bahrain since it joined the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1977. For its part, Serbia ratified the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No.187) on 16th September 2009. This brings to 71 the number of Conventions ratified by Serbia since it joined the ILO in 2000. Convention 187, entered into force on 20 February 2009, aims to promote a preventative safety and health culture through raising OSH higher in national agendas by launching national occupational safety and health programmes, as well as through promoting safer and healthier working environments.
