Launched in April by the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities and enhanced at the International Labour Conference in June 2006 through the adoption of a new Promotional Framework Convention and Recommendation on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), the campaign for the ratification of key OSH Conventions is intensifying. The campaign fosters the ratification of the ILO conventions by Member States, thus encouraging these countries to include measures improving OSH in their national policies and programmes. A collection of eight posters calling for the ratification of key Conventions is available electronically in three languages (English, French and Spanish).
SafeWork intensifies its efforts to promote the approaches established by key ILO Conventions through cooperation with the tripartite constituents of the ILO. It includes promoting the new Promotional Framework that provides the infrastructure to help countries acquire the capacity to establish priorities and improve OSH, taking into account the principles set out in ILO key Conventions and other instruments. CIS disseminates information about this campaign underlying the importance of the key conventions among persons responsible for the establishment and implementation of national policies and programmes in the area of OSH through its network of 140 National and Collaborating Centers.
