Review Comments The Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) was developed by the Council of the European Communities to provide environmental management guidance to organisations within the European Community. The standard is voluntary and is used in third-party certification/registration audits. While not a OHSMS, the analysis of EMAS is included here because if is used by organisations as a template for the their OHS management efforts. EMAS represents a strong management system. OHSMS variables that are not present in EMAS are employee participation, hazardous agents management, and medical program/surveillance.
