National Programmes for the Elimination of Silicosis (NPES)

Two national action programmes for the elimination of silicosis have been launched within the framework of the ILO/WHO Global Programme for the Elimination of Silicosis

Brazil

The NPES in Brazil was launched on April 28 the occasion of the World Safety Day. It was marked by the signing of the Memoranda of Understanding between the FUNDACENTRO and the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Security and ILO Brasilia. Click here for more info.

South Africa

The NPES in South Africa was launched in Johannesburg on June 28 at the solemn event organized by the Department of Labour with the participation of the Department of Health, Department of Minerals and Energy, employers and workers organizations, the National Institute for Occupational Health. Strong commitments and partnerships were re-confirmed by the stakeholders and the ILO assistance pledged to support its successful implementation. Click here and here for more info.
