Working conditions: Technical cooperation

The ILO's WISE methodology for improving working conditions in small-scale enterprises has been used in many countries around the world. A UNDP-funded WISE project in the Philippines resulted in many improvements and built the capacity of government to play an effective advisory role to small-scale businesses.

A project in Haiti funded by the US Department of Labor has been helping to improve working conditions in the garment assembly sector since 2000.

With the aim of developing new tools to improve the working conditions of a larger number of workers in a sustainable way, TRAVAIL has embarked on a learning and research agenda, which will include pilot testing of new approaches. In Indonesia, approaches are being developed to improve the conditions of street and market vendors.
