In response to these trends and issues, the ILO's Working Time and work organization (WTWO) work programme is responding through a two-pronged approach:
- Building the ILO's knowledge base regarding trends and issues related to working time and work organization through information collection and related research, in particular:
- Analysing developments in 'flexible' or 'non-standard' working time arrangements, primarily in industrialized countries, and the effects of these arrangements on the terms and conditions of employment;
- Investigating a broad range of working time and work organization trends and issues in developing and transition countries; and
- Summarizing national legal provisions regarding working time in ILO member States and making this information available in a 'customer-friendly' format.
- Using this expanded knowledge base for developing practical tools and providing technical advisory services to assist our constituents in developing and implementing appropriate policies and practices for improving conditions of work related to working time and work organization both at the national level and in the workplace.
