| Work and family: What do we do? |
|
The functions of the work and family team within the Conditions of Work and Employment Programme are to promote policies and measures which are in line with relevant international labour standards, and to provide technical guidance to countries and social partners for improving the protection of maternity and the reconciliation of work with family responsibilities. In order to achieve these aims, the work and family sub-programme is taking a multi-faceted approach, which includes:
- Collecting and publishing data on current trends impacting on the reconciliation of work and family life, especially at the national and enterprise levels.
- Engaging in and commissioning research on work and family issues around the world in order to develop practical tools for use by our tripartite constituents and other segments of society.
- Developing tools and providing technical assistance to governments and other social partners on how work and family can be addressed.
- Establishing a legal database on maternity protection legislation in countries throughout the world.
- Promoting policy dialogue among ILO tripartite partners, researchers, and other interested parties around the world on work and family issues.
