The main purpose of CIRRTS is to bring together scholars from a variety of disciplines that teach and do research in comparative industrial relations and international labour issues. CIRRTS usually meets in conjunction with major IIRA meetings in order to allow members from around the globe to compare experience and to discuss developments in comparative industrial relations. Commonly discussed are pedagogical techniques that are most effective in teaching relevant subjects. The status of various comparative industrial relations research projects current underway is also the subject of discussion at CIRRTS meetings. From time to time CIRRTS co-organize national meetings with IIRA member associations. For example, several joint meetings have been arranged with the International Section of the Industrial Relations Research Association.
