Prof. Berndt KELLER was born in Germany in 1946. He studied Social Science at the Ruhr-Universität in Bochum (mainly social policy, sociology, methods) where he received the Degree of Dr. rer.soc. in 1973. He has been working at the Institute of Sociology, University of Essen; Institute of Empirical Social Research, University of Essen; University of California, Berkeley; and is working since 1984 at the University of Konstanz, where he became full professor of Political and Administrative Science (mainly labour and social policy) in 1987. He received grants for his research from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Gottlieb Daimler- und Karl Benz-Stiftung. He was Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the University of Warwick, UK in 1994.
