Prof. Tayo Fashoyin is the Director of the Industrial and Employment Relations Department of the ILO, Geneva.

He started his academic career in the Human Resource Research Unit at the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1976, and rose to become Professor of Labour and Industrial Relations in the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Lagos in 1985. He joined the International Labour Office in 1994. He held several positions as a Senior Fulbright Research Fellow at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and Visiting Professor of Comparative Industrial Relations at the Faculty of Commerce at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Professor Fashoyin also served as Special Adviser to the Minister of Employment, Labour and Productivity, Federal Government of Nigeria during 1990-1994.

In 1981, he received his D.Phil degree in Labour Economics from the University of Sussex, Brighton, England. He completed his MA in the School of Management of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, U.S.A and his AB degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA.

He has written and published widely on comparative labour and industrial relations, in Africa and the developing countries. His research has focussed on topics related to industrial relations and labour market governance, and has served as consultant on various labour market issues.
