Professor Zeng is the director of China Institute for Employment Research (CIER) at Renmin University of China, the vice president of Labor Academy of China, the president of China Labor Science Academy for Teaching and Research and the fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA). He is the former dean of School of Labor and Human Resources at Renmin University of China.

Professor Zeng is the “Yangtze River Distinguished Professor” awarded by the Ministry of Education of PRC, the expert with Outstanding Contribution for Beijing in the field of Science and Management, and the “Excellent Professor” in Beijing, USA Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar in 1998-1999, Senior Visiting Scholar of DAAD Program in 2003-2005 in Germany. His research interests include employment and unemployment, wage theory and policy, labor market and talent strategy.

He has undertaken a number of major research projects of the National Social Science Funds, the World Bank and the International Labour Organization (ILO). Professor Zeng is noted for his contributions to labor economics in the context of China with a large number of academic works published by the International Labour Review, China Social Sciences, Economic Research Journal, Journal of Renmin University of China and so on.

In March 28, 2003, in the third collective learning of the Political Bureau of China Central Political Bureau of Communist Party, Professor Zeng was invited to make a lecture on “Global Employment Trends and China’s Employment Policies”.
