Youth Employment Inventory for West Africa
(Check this site for the launch of the database in December 2008)
This database offers detailed information on organisations implementing youth employment projects in the 16 West African countries. This resource is aimed at all youth employment stakeholders and offers a wealth of information in a user-friendly, searchable and up-to-date format.
The database provides the following information on over 300 organizations tackling youth employment in the sub-region.
- Contact details: Organization contact information and contact persons.
- Organization information: General details on the type of organization, its mission, funding sources and gender considerations.
- Youth employment projects: Information on the youth employment projects being implemented by the organization including their area of intervention, countries of operation, target groups and the proportion of youth beneficiaries.
- Accomplishment and Challenges: Details on the key successes and problems encountered by the organization in implementing their projects.
This inventory gives organizations an online presence that enhances their networking opportunities and facilitates information sharing. In addition it is a useful starting point for stakeholders looking to design or support youth employment projects as it provides information on activities already implemented in West Africa and the challenges faced. Furthermore, YEN-WA will be building on this knowledge base and exploring untapped opportunities for creating synergies and bringing complementary stakeholders together.
The Youth Employment Inventory was based on the results of YEN WA’s survey of youth employment activities in West Africa. Please click on the publication to read the overview report of the survey results.
