Inter-regional (English)
The inter-regional (generic) version, which is in English, is the outcome of collective and multi-disciplinary efforts of ILO experts from Headquarters and the field. It draws from experiences of the past decade, both of the ILO and other development organizations. The English prototype was reviewed in a validation workshop in February 1997 involving not only specialists of the ILO, but also representatives of the UNDP, World Bank, UNIFEM, and workers' and employers' organizations.

- Reviews alternative strategies for organization-building from a gender lens
- Analyses issues of social acceptability, financial viability and political autonomy

- Analyses gender inequalities with regards rights of use and control over land and other physical assets
- Looks at some strategies for reducing inequalities, such as legal reforms, land reform and resettlement, reforestation, urban land upgrading, and their impact on women's rights
- Proposes that women's rights to land and other assets can be enhanced through mutually reinforcing measures covering policy and legal reform, and direct assistance

- Addresses two questions:
- How can social protection be extended to women workers in the informal economy and atypical forms of employment
- How can social protection measures be linked to poverty eradication
