Skill Training to the Rural Working Girls and Women - Islamic Republic of Iran

Education of women and girls are among the main priorities of our literacy and CE in our country. During the recent years the LMO efforts in this field resulted in reducing the disparities of education between men and women. But the important thing in this process is enabling the girls and women and training them on the main life skills. On this basis the life skill training to the rural out of school girls and women was implemented in this line. The plan was executed based upon the aforementioned experiences and with cooperation of the UNICEF.

Objectives:

  1. To provide functional education according to the targets’ needs.
  2. To integrate literacy with life skills education.
  3. To extend and promote women and girls learning.
  4. To help in improvement of rural working girls and women.
  5. To alleviate the traditional and cultural biases about girls’ education.

Strategies:

  1. Advocative actions in order to absorb the working girls and women to education.
  2. Flexibility in the time of literacy classes according to the girls’ preferences.
  3. Using the female instructors for developing the effective patterns.
  4. Creating the learning incentives through integration of literacy education with life skills.
  5. Functional education in order to gain income through different easy and accessible methods.
  6. Getting the environment of the local and regional institutions.
  7. Using the participatory teaching-learning methods in courses.

Achievement:

  1. Creating the ground for taking responsibility among families and local officials.
  2. Improvement of functional indices.
  3. Increase of demand for education among the girls and women.
  4. Income generation for life improvement.
  5. Strong decrease of dropouts of classes.
  6. Remarkable improvement of education quality.

This project was executed in 11 provinces of the country and it is extending through out the country.
