The Barbados Labour Market Information System (BLMIS) is managed by the Manpower Research and Statistical Unit (MRSU). It maintains a Job Bank for job seekers, Job Matching facility, Skills Bank, Industry profiles system and job/occupational profiles system.

Job Bank for Job Seekers

This online facility gives the job seeker a list of job vacancies that currently exist in a number of business places across Barbados. the job seeker can search for these vacancies by occupational area, by industry category or by job title. The job seeker can also make an open application for a job.

Skills Bank

Here employers get to know who the job seekers are, where they are and what they can do. Job seekers can use these facilities to advertise themselves and their skills to the world of employers, both local and international. The bank is open to all nationals/residents of Barbados.

Job Matching Facility

This facility helps to find out the five most relevant occupations for which a person is qualified, in order of relevance. By entering the skills and qualifications, the occupations for which a person is qualified will be displayed.

Industry Profiles

This section provides cross sectional profiles of various industries in Barbados. These profiles include :

The information provided targets young students and the career planner.

Job/Occupational Profiles

This section contains select job descriptions taken from the Dictionary of Occupational Classification for Barbados. The job descriptions include, a job summary, a list of tasks for that job, the skills, knowledge and abilities and the qualifications needed to perform that job. This information is intended to assist vocational trainers, guidance counselors, employers and employees to better understand what is involved in jobs in our economy and what is required of the workers who must perform these jobs.

Education and Training Facilities

The facilities provided give cross sectional and summary information on various local and overseas educational and training institutions. It also provides information on sources of finance for study as well as places where the student can go in search of scholarships. Summary overviews of courses of study at the various institutions are also given.
