Strategic projects include piloting and identifying best practice models for implementing part-time New Apprenticeships in schools; development of effective models for delivery of VET in schools in rural and remote areas; developing programs for years 9-10 students at risk to access VET in senior years; identification of regulatory barriers to implementing part-time New Apprenticeships in schools, to the expansion of VET in schools, development of innovative partnership models for the delivery of VET in schools.
An evaluation, completed in June 1999, concluded that the EES element made useful advances in achieving it's key objectives, with relatively modest input of $3.4m from Commonwealth over three years.
Overall 68% of schools surveyed reported some enterprise education activity although this varies considerably across States and Territories.
Most principals surveyed thought EE would be given emphasis in their school in the future.
Students involved in EE funded initiatives have responded well with increased motivation, initiative and awareness of job and work opportunities.
Initiatives such as Enterprise Days have increased participating schools knowledge of business, broadened their outlook on employment opportunities and enhanced links between schools, businesses and communities.
