The ILO advocates for training and employment of people with disabilities. Awareness- raising, information-dissemination and dialogue with governments, employers’ and workers’ organisations and organisations of/for people with disabilities are in the core of all our activities.

Employers are playing a more central role than ever before in promoting opportunities for job seekers with disabilities, in retaining workers who acquire a disability while in employment and developing return-to-work-strategies for those who have left the active labour force. In support of these trends, the ILO has developed a Code of Practice on Managing Disability in the Workplace, to provide guidance to public and private sector employers in the first instance, and also to employers’ organizations, workers’ organizations and national authorities.
