EIIP Partners
The EIIP works together with the ILO constituents in public and private
sectors as well as with international organisations and development agencies to
further the initiatives taken by the programme and to enable an appropriate
response to the increasing demand for its services.
Addressing the needs of ILO's Member States and Constituents
The EIIP provides Ministries of Labour with a practical policy tool for
collaborating with other ministries, local government authorities, employers and
workers for employment creation and social protection.
The EIIP also supports workers in the informal sector in their efforts to
organize themselves and negotiate for stronger participation in national
development. Associations of informal sector workers and local development
committees is a means through which the workers' movements can reach out and
extend their membership and social initiatives to workers in the informal
sector.
The EIIP works together with employers' organisations, especially from the
construction sector and representing micro and small enterprises, in creating an
enabling environment for the access of such enterprises to public procurement
contracts.
Collaboration with other development agencies
EIIP projects are sponsored by external donors. Technical assistance is funded
predominantly by the UNDP and donor agencies, and investments are financed by
Governments, donor agencies or development banks. The major donors are Denmark,
Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, UNDP and the World Bank.
However, these development partners and agencies do not just act as donors. They
are also full partners in developing and disseminating the EIIP approach and
fostering the more widespread adoption of labour-based approaches in their own
bilateral and multilateral projects.
