ASIST also has links to other information resources around the world, and maintains contact with experts in the field who can be called upon to provide technical advice or information.

If you require technical advice or information on labour-based technology for infrastructure development, contact the TES:

ASIST Document Centre

To support the technical enquiry service ASIST actively collects both published and unpublished documents on employment intensive technology and related topics. The collection includes text books, research reports, project reports, technical manuals, training material, periodical articles, etc, most of which are in English, and a small number in French and Portuguese.

A computerised bibliographic database, called ASISTDOC is maintained to facilitate quick and easy access to the collection of over 9000 documents.  The ASISTDOC is now on the web for information search and ordering of documents from the ASIST Information Service.

Contacts database

A database of labour-based technology practitioners ASIST maintains a network database of people and organisations concerned with alleviating poverty through employment-intensive infrastructure works.

Training Services

This involves support in the development of curricula, training programmes, training material, as well as training techniques and methodology.  University Networks have been established in Africa and Asia for the development and introduction of the material as well as for sharing of information and experiences between the universities.

ASIST also facilitates annual international training courses for engineers, senior technicians and trainers in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Public Works, Kisii Training Centre, in Kenya.

Please see the comprehensive schedule of Training Courses and Seminars available in the field of Employment-Intensive Investments under our Training and Seminar Calendar.
