The Regional University Network Asia Pacific (RUNAP) is an email-based
platform that facilitates the exchange of information and the discussion
on Sustainable Infrastructure Development in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Universities throughout the region are member of RUNAP, and participate
in the discussions on the various country approaches, the development of
education and research programmes, the transfer of know-how, and the
exchange of information on active or planned programmes or projects and
activities.
The objective is to include the concept of Sustainable Infrastructure
Development in academic and other training programs related to
infrastructure development and transport planning.
This approach to infrastructure planning and development is being
mainstreamed in a number of countries as part of government strategies
for the effective provision of social and economic services, and the
creation of employment. RUNAP complements by supporting the adoption of
the concepts in education and research activities in development
planning and engineering.
RUNAP is set-up as an email based list-server that facilitates the
exchange from and to subscribers. Experts from universities, but also
from local and central government agencies, donor agencies, private
sector enterprises, professional associations, non governmental
organizations and international organizations can contribute by sending
emails to the list-server.
All subcribers are invited to express their views, experiences and ideas
on the concepts behind RUNAP, and contributions will be highly
appreciated. In order to stimulate the discussions, each member
university has assigned a focal person for providing technical inputs,
while the general moderation and management is done currently by
ASIST-AP.
