Equal Employment Opportunities for Women and Men

Government Programmes in Philippines - National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW)

NCRFW has developed some programmes in relation to equal employment opportunities for women. For example, the following projects have been undertaken:

  1. Together with the Canadian International Development Agency, NCRFW has launched an institutional strengthening project. There was also a consciousness-raising programme targeting the different layers of the bureaucracy from department secretaries and under-secretaries to planners, trainers and other decision makers. Between 1989 and 1992, 76 seminars were conducted. A Study Tour to Canada was similarly funded by CIDA through NCRFW. It enabled concerned officials to look into the practices and experiences of Canada on matters pertaining to pay equity, sexual harassment and equal opportunity, with the aim of adopting and implementing similar programmes in the Philippines.
  2. Since 1993, and with funding assistance from the Asian Development Bank, NCRFW has developed its statistical programme and has developed a manual, the National Gender-disaggregated Indicator System.
