Improving the Role and Efficiency of Farm Household Members

Formerly known as the National Postharvest Institute for Research and Extension (NAPHIRE), the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE) is part of the Department of Agriculture. It has undertaken a programme towards improving the role and efficiency of farm household members with emphasis on women in post-production activities, and a training programme of rural women on postharvest loss prevention.

Grameen Bank Scheme

Under the Medium-term Agricultural Development Plan, the Department of Agriculture adopted the Grameen Bank Scheme to provide credit access to rural women as well as to promote savings mobilization and capital formation.
