Decree No 337 on Priority Tasks of the State policy with regard to women

This presidential decree was issued in March 1993 and identified the following six priority tasks in the field of women's labour rights:

  1. Establishing organisational, economic and legal guarantees for the realisation of women's right to work.
  2. Ensuring competitiveness of women in the labour market through enhancing their training in new occupations, entrepreneurial activities, catching up their lag in skill levels and pay and retraining and skill improvement of women who have interrupted their career because of childbirth and care work.
  3. Phased elimination of the historically conditioned lag of women's pay in sectors with a high representation of women.
  4. Ensuring women's right to occupational safety, protection of their life and health with due account of their maternity function.
  5. Granting working women social guarantees provided by existing legislation, irrespective of the property type of enterprises, establishments and organizations, including those in the course of liquidation or reorganisation.
  6. Provision and development of social benefits that allow parents to combine their parental duties with labour and social activities including through maintaining and expanding the facilities for child care.
