Equal Employment Opportunities for Women and Men

Ministry of Education, Culture and Science - Netherlands

In addition to administering a number of programmes relevant to women, the Ministry has undertaken the following activities:

  • A report entitled Eerdaags Evenredig? examines the representation of women in Dutch Universities. The report enumerates a number of policy measures that could help to improve the position of women in universities.
  • The Ministry applies Gender Impact Assessment to key policy proposals to prevent these proposals from unintentionally and inadvertently perpetuating gender inequalities or stereotypical role patterns. Policies that have been subject to Gender Impact Assessment include the advisory report on junior general secondary and pre-vocational education and beyond, the Higher Education and Research Plan (HOOP), the Information and Communications Technology Policy Document and the funding system for adult and vocational education. Gender Impact Assessment is designed to give policy-makers an idea of the potential gender consequences of gender-neutral policies.
  • Social and Cultural Planning Bureau

Relevant tasks have included the development of a monitor for unpaid work to identify information gaps and make proposals to compensate for these as effectively as possible.
