Constitution - Netherlands Constitution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands of 17 February 1983 (as amended) The Constitution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands of 17 February 1983 (as amended) contains a number of provisions related to equal employment opportunity policies. Article 1 underscores that all persons in the Netherlands must be treated equally in equal circumstances and that discrimination on the ground of sex, inter alia, is not permitted. It is also specified that all Dutch nationals shall be equally eligible for appointment to public service (article 3). Article 19 recognizes the right of every Dutch national to a free choice of work, without prejudice to the limitation by or under this act, while the authorities must promote the provision of sufficient employment. Finally, it shall be a concern of the authorities to secure the means of subsistence of the population and to achieve the distribution of wealth (article 20).
