Jordanian Federation of Business and Professional Women

The Jordanian Federation of Business and Professional Women (JFBPW), was established in 1976. Her Royal Majesty Queen Noor is its honorary president (as at 2003). In cooperation with the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, the Federation initiated a small business counselling centre, which offers:

  1. Business advice and financial support for women entrepreneurs;
  2. Legal consultative services for women;
  3. A documentation and information centre for women's studies;

The federation was the first to provide women entrepreneurs with the following kind of assistance:

  1. hot-lines;
  2. service centres for small businesses;
  3. free legal aid;
  4. personal counselling; and,
  5. technical training.

In addition to the above, the JFBPW:

  1. Conducts seminars, lectures, and training courses (not restricted to women and men equally actively participate in them).
  2. Helps women start their own businesses by playing the role of the guarantor for women who apply for loans.
  3. Helps with small business management skills such as taxation, marketing, accounting, and legal problems.

The Federation is also distinguished for the "Incubators" project it initiated in 1997. For details on this project refer to section Government Programs.
