Office for Gender Equality - Japan

Established in 1994 in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Council was responsible for producing the report entitled "Vision of Gender Equality - Creating New Values for the 21st Century". The Council was also responsible for proposing the Fundamental Law for a Gender-equal Society (referenced above) in a report entitled "The Proposal for a Basic Law Designed to Promote a Gender-Equal Society: Developing the Basic Conditions for Creation of a Gender-Equal Society".
