Administers the Child Support Scheme which provides for
maintenance payments by parents who have separated in order to share the cost of
supporting their children. One of its aims is to ensure that the incentives for
both parents to participate in the labour force are not impaired.

National Planning System for child care to ensure that new child care centres are opened in areas of demonstrated need and to avoid over-supply.
National Child Care Program which has as one of it main objectives to allow families with dependent children to participate in the workforce.
The "Staying at Home-Care and Support for Older Australians" policy aids women, and others who care for the aged.
